We can never understand the fear and hate without understanding the blind belief in competition. People join competitions and promote competition because they believe in winning. They don't look at the actual result (one winner, many losers). Far too many people (yes, liberals, too) believe that life is about winning some kind of prize/legacy/credential, rather than about contributing to the environment that spawned us. The premise of every civilization is to competitively extract resources. Under this premise, everyone and every thing is an enemy to the individual's selfishness, even when they join a tribe/team/brand.
