We needed a study for this? ;)

Two things come to mind: how difficult it is to differentiate a control group among members of our government-endorsed Christian warrior military, and second, how many academics perform studies really just to convince themselves (and grant organizations) that thinking doesn't count unless they get a publication to say it does. The segue from the latter is to a world where thinking isn't as important as raising money or documenting reasons to raise money. We see this trend every day in decision-making procedures that are blinded by spreadsheets. Understandably, scientific method has a purpose to minimize unsupported biases, but at the same time, we need something besides competition and money to motivate inventive and intuitive individuals to cultivate their unique 'biases'. Religion is the opposite.

The brain is amazingly fragile(see the referenced study) both in its physical and chemical structures, but amazing nonetheless.

Religions force an overall model of the universe on vulnerable developing (and post-trauma) brains, yet we don't treat religions as the mind rapists that they and advertisers actually are. Talk about grooming......
