Well done and thought. I’m not a big fan of the elevator concept, but you’ve given me enough to rethink it. The only idea about it that I have pondered is the speed and design of the lifting transport because of the distance and time required. I submit that the system should be designed as a towing mechanism, rather than an elevator ‘car’, and that the transport vehicles would be aerodynamic gliders with all guidance of an aircraft because of winds and turbulence. These could then detach in emergencies and glide back down, as well as be permitted higher speeds of supersonic travel than an elevator car next to a stationary core. This could also permit some powered thrust or catapult to assist at the low end, allowing for a lower tension towing cable.
