I call it "the mean Mean", and it's directly related to a blind belief in Competition and markets, but don't forget that all of that advertising (brainwashing children and time theft) is tax deductible. Civilization taught humans that bullying is more profitable than leadership, and markets thrive on clever deceit, not honest value.

Crime rates don't include lying or bullying.
