We've spent the last 2 centuries using fossil fuel for replacing the value of human labor to the planet. The paradigm of profit "perpetually increasing price" starts collapsing when expansion stops. Is it optimistic or cynical to hope for a sooner realization in order to save more resources? Long term, human contribution to its future places will be measured by Nature. To come up short is to be left behind as a fossil record. The "shoe event horizon" will be as prominent as the K-T boundary. Our existence will be defined by a layer of flip flops and crocs that are left on hills surrounding underwater city ruins.
