While we notice the market specialists who transferred from tobacco to oil, we should remember to question advertising/marketing itself. When combined with the delusion of 'progressive' policies that depend on keeping the System of systems extracting resources (from people as well as the planet), and the religions that support them in the name of 'helping the poor', there's a big hole in the perception of our own agency. Everyone thinks that individuals are 'choosing' to destroy the planet: but they are uninformed as to real costs at the decision points, and they are uninformed as to the value of their own labors and creativity (corporate profits, taxes, benefits, etc taken before they see payment). Civilization (city-based society) has detached humans from their places. That detachment is what oil companies, governments, educators and religions have been feeding on for millennia.

Reversing the economics of humanity is just not considered viable: hell, it's just not considered. We're HUMANS! We get to TAKE whatever we WANT!!

psst: don't question the fact that you are taking stuff from the planet and giving it to rich white guys so they can play all of the time at getting richer by making everyone competitively miserable.
