Humanity built systems to extract resources from the planet. They work to support those systems. As the systems fall apart, they wonder why they are falling apart. They don't question their own stupidity. When our systems and our cultures make people lazy and stupid, how are they ever going to know?

Plutocrats are those people (bullies) who make a profit from these systems. It's not like they intentionally make people too stupid to have their own systems. It's just a happy coincidence.

Humans didn't evolve to know the difference between bullying and leadership, and it's not like there's another species with our fanatical imagination that can act as a check on our consumptionism.
