The focus on carbon emissions has derailed any thoughts about overall consumptionism/colonialism. Western democracies aren't voting at ballot boxes so much as at the checkouts, and the separation between humans and Nature is most enabled by myriad schemes to reduce prices of goods for competitive perpetual consumption growth.
