Yes. It’s the ‘spreadsheet decision making’ that really bugs me. It used to be committees. A committee doesn’t look at the future; only past performance. A spreadsheet leaves out analog life and makes all decisions with a knife to cut the profits from the losses, the convenient from the difficult. When combined with committees, decisions are made by the first person to find what they think is convenient in the spreadsheets and shred the rest. Call it “cherry-picking”, but it’s more than that. It’s “fear: yellow frickin’ fear.” (Joe vs. the Volcano).
Convenience and cheapness are viruses that infect human societies. The profits drive politicians to war and media to stupidity.
I should burn that into stainless steel sometime for the future to find. ;)
