You’ve illustrated one of the points of dissociation when we say and think “the government” instead of “our government”: especially when it is public figures who are saying it (government, media and corporate).

The most significant being corporate lobbyists, as they hand over buckets of money to corrupt campaigns while saying “the government is bad".

Next up are protesters who invade their neighbors' government place of work (just because they didn’t vote for that particular one) demanding “the government” should get to work.

Dissociation is the core of bullying.
